9/29 Log Entry

What I've Done

I have come up with the October fiddler crab counting days based on the full and new moons, as well as the low tides. These include the 6 at 3:12 pm, the 12 at 7:45 am, the 18 at 1:41 pm, and the 30 at 11:10 am. I emailed these dates to Ms. McDonald, as well. Continuing, I found the average, variance, and standard deviation for the fiddler crab counts based on the school year the data was collected in and whether or not the data points were from the north or south side of Spermaceti Cove. 

Plans for Today

I will count fiddler crabs at Spermaceti Cove at 10:15 am today and write a blog post about it. I will also continue to work on the statistics and formulate questions to both look up in trusted resources and ask Mrs. Zrada at our meeting on October 2. I will write a mentor contact for my email to Mrs. McDonald regarding the October counting dates. I received an email from Mrs. Zrada regarding the kind of data I have for this project, so I will respond to her and write an mentor contact log for this encounter.

Plans for the Future

I plan to organize the mean, variance, and standard deviation calculations, as well as the graphs and tables I have created, into a well organized, data collection blog post. I also plan to use the information I learn from my meeting with Mrs. Zrada to help me continue with the statistics.

4/10 Log Entry

What I've Done I presented my formal progress update for the third marking period. I also began my discussion yesterday and emailed both my discussion and results portion of my scientific research paper to my mentor, Mrs. Zrada, to be revised. Plans for Today I plan to use Mrs. Zrada's corrections to tweak my results and discussion sections to be more accurate and professional-sounding. After I make the necessary corrections, I will hand in my abstract, results, and discussion, as they are all due today, 10 April. Plans for the Future I will begin working on my marking period four work once I receive the syllabus for the quarter.

10/20 Log Entry

What I've Done I have written several more annotated bibliography paragraphs and found a handful more sources. I have updated my statistical analysis with the final two counting sessions, as well. Plans for Today I will start to work on the progress poster (due on October 24). I also want to find the remaining eight primary sources for my 40 annotated bibliography. Plans for the Future This weekend, I will finish the progress poster and begin to organize my blog for my progress update presentation on the 26th of October. I will also continue to work on my annotated bibliography.

Log Entry 10/31

What I've Done I have continued to write my annotated bibliography paragraphs. Plans for Today I will research for more primary sources and continue to work towards my 40 annotated bibliography sources (not due until November 6). I will also continue to prepare for my presentation on November 2. Plans for the Future I will practice my presentation and find more primary sources.
