What I've Done I finished working on my t-test calculations. Plans for Today I wrote my blog post about my raw data analysis calculations. Plans for the Future I will write up my report to mentor.

Raw Data Analysis

Image
Raw Data Analysis Graphs The above graph shows the amount of Uca minax fiddler crabs counted on both the North and South sides of Spermaceti Cove on Sandy Hook, New Jersey during the 2016-2017 data collection set. This is the baseline data for this longitudinal study. The above graph shows the amount of Uca minax fiddler crabs counted on bot the North and South sides of Spermaceti Cove on Sandy Hook, New Jersey during the 2017-2018 data collection set. The above line graph shows the amount of fiddler crabs counted on the North side of Sperrmaceti Cove on Sandy Hook, New Jersey throughout the two years that this study has been conducted, from 2016-2018. Correlation Between Temperature and Crabs Counted Calculating the correlation between the temperature and number of crabs gives me more information about the Uca minax fiddler crab population on Sandy Hook. The following is a equation for correlation: AB/sqrt(A^2)(B^2). The column X represents the temperature at the t

What I've Done I began working on conducting a t-test with the summer months, June, July, and August, and the amount of crabs counted then for the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 data set. Plans for Today I completed the t-test calculation. Plans for the Future I will write my blog post about my raw data analysis calculations, including several tables, bar graphs, and line graphs of my data.

What I've Done I have finished doing a correlation between the temperature of the counting date and the amount of crabs seen. I have also created bar graphs of last year's and this year's crab counts. Plans for Today I will begin working on conducting t-tests of the summer months of the 2016-2017 data set with the 2017-2018 data set. Plans for the Future I will complete my t-tests.

Mrs. Zrada Contact 12/13

Contact with Mrs. Zrada Date of contact:  December 13, 2017 Contact:  Mrs. Zrada Reference: Raw Data Analysis Discussion:  D. D'Albero and I asked her several questions regarding what this portion of our project entails. Conclusion: She told us that we should organize our data into bar graphs and line graphs, separating the data by year. She also said that we should correlate the temperature against the amount of crabs seen on that day. She suggested that we preform a t-test, as well, relating the two years data to each other. We are only able to do this with the summer months, as the 2016-2017 data set only has the summer months of June, July, and August.. Continuing, we should preform standard deviation, variance, and average for both years of data. Because there is such a small amount of data points along a long period of time, Mrs. Zrada said that this study would be rather inconclusive, as we would have needed to count fiddler crabs more often.

Mrs. Zrada Contact 12/12

Contact with Mrs. Zrada Date of contact:  December 12, 2017 Contact:  Mrs. Zrada Reference: Raw Data Analysis Discussion:  Mrs. Zrada emailed me to say that she could not come to our meeting location on December 13th, but that we could Google Hangout instead. Conclusion: We agreed to Google Hangout at 8 am on December 13.

What I've Done I have finished writing my introduction and methodologies. Plans for Today I will start thinking about what questions I need to ask Mrs. Zrada during our meeting on 13 December about raw data analysis. Plans for the Future I will begin working on my raw data analysis after my meeting with Mrs. Zrada on 13 December (due on the 21 of December). I hope to finish the raw data analysis portion of my project by 19 December and work on my mentor email update afterwards (not due until 8 January).

Plans for Today I plan to research what needs to be completed for my raw data analysis. Plans for the Future I plan to start doing my raw data analysis on Monday, as I will not be in class on Friday.

Plans for Today I will start working on the parts of my report to my mentor that I can. I will have to wait to write about the raw data analysis until after it is completed, however. This also prevents me from writing the summary and conclusion parts. Plans for the Future I plan to finish the introduction and part of the mentor report by this Thursday, as I will not be in class Tuesday or Friday.

What I've Done I finished and submitted my statistical methodologies. I also began working on materials and methods on accident, as I thought that is what was due on 30 November, so now I am ahead for when that becomes due. Plans for Today I will start thinking about what to do for my raw data analysis (due on the 21 of December). Plans for the Future I will begin working on my raw data analysis (due on the 21 of December), as well as the mentor update email (due on the 8 of January).
